Most electrical problems show up in one place and start in another. A dead outlet is a classic example. Watch how we trace it.
1. Listen. It starts with what you noticed. Here, Outlet B is dead. We ask what was plugged in, when it started and what else stopped working.2. Test at the panel. The breaker is on, and the circuit has power where it leaves the panel. So the problem is further along.3. Follow the circuit. We test box by box, the junction box, then Outlet A, until we reach the point where the power stops.4. Find the cause. A loose connection at Outlet A, the outlet before the dead one, has been running hot. No guessing, and no replacing parts that aren’t broken.5. Repair and test. We repair the connection, replace the damaged outlet, then test every outlet and light on the circuit before we leave.
In homes, apartments, offices and shops. We test first, explain the cause in plain language, and give you options before any repair.

Real Volta service calls. We test before we replace anything.
Straightforward and honest: we find the cause first, then you decide.

A breaker trips to protect the wiring. The usual causes are too much running on one circuit, a short or ground fault in an appliance, a cord or the wiring, or a breaker that has worn out. Unplug what was running and reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call.
No. Once is fine. If it trips again, something is wrong, and resetting it over and over can let a problem get worse.
Often a loose bulb or a dimmer that isn’t made for LED bulbs. If several lights flicker, or they dim when the A/C or another appliance starts, it can be a loose connection or an overloaded circuit, and it’s worth having it checked. See lighting installation for dimmers that match LED fixtures.
Check for a tripped GFCI outlet first: one GFCI in a bathroom, the kitchen, the garage or outside can protect outlets in other rooms. Then check the panel for a tripped breaker. If they’re still dead, a loose connection at an outlet earlier on the circuit is a common cause.
Check with a neighbor or your utility’s outage page; it may be the utility’s service to your home. If lights look too bright or too dim, or appliances act strangely, turn off sensitive electronics and call right away: it can mean a lost neutral or a failing connection at the panel or meter.
Yes. It means heat at a connection. Stop using it and turn off that circuit at the panel if you can do it safely. If you see smoke or flames, get out and call 911. Then call us.
Our office is open Saturday to Thursday, 8 AM to 11:30 PM, and Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Call (844) 425-1889 and we’ll tell you how soon we can be there. If there’s smoke, fire or a sparking panel, call 911 first.
Our goal is to find the cause on the first visit. Many repairs can be done the same visit; if a repair needs parts or a permit, you get a clear quote first.
Yes: dedicated circuits for chargers, ranges, dryers and A/C that trip or stopped working. See EV charger installation.
Our work comes with a 2-year labor warranty, and the equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty of up to 10 years.
